Isn't the 2.0 still relatively new? This seems like it's too soon for Subaru to be updating their power plant. Unless they're using the older boxer.

(Admittedly doesn't ever know what he's talking about.)

Meh it is kind of what it needs. But I have the feeling they are going the way of the Miata with the chassis and engine combo. Not letting the engine overpower the chassis and ruin the driving dynamic.

I am in favor however of the 2.5 if you are staying N/A then why not crank up the displacement.

I should learn to read shit before I comment.

A 25% bump in displacement yields 25% more HP. Let's apply that to the torque figures for rough numbers. 151ft-lbs * 1.25 = 188.75ft-lbs.

Still not quite getting me excited.

Well, keeping it at 100bhp/L probably still leaves lots of room for tuners. Ultimately, if you want a turbocharged Toyobaru then there are good kits out there for you already.

Now we wait for it to come out and also get an aftermarket turbo kit...

I love it. I wonder if it'll still be square.

That's assuming the peak HP rpm stays the same. If they added the 500cc by adding more stroke, expect closer to 30-35% increase in torque at a lower RPM.

Now, if they added it via bore or some combination of bore+stroke, and/or raised the peak HP rpm even higher (7000rpm?), peak torque could be lower.

Call me when the engine gets 300.

Well done sir. I'm still hoping for a factory turbo version of the 2.0 to come out in the future. But I may be blue in the face holding my breath.

Worst case, we can just say hello to Crawford.

300 hp would make the car insanely fun. Slap some better tires on it and you'd have a proper starter track car out of the box.

Yup. If I buy something that looks fast, dammit it better be fast.

Simply increasing the displacement of the original motor should be the cheapest way for Subaru/Toyota to increase power, but I still wonder what they will do with regards to price. Had the FRS came in at around $20k+tax/title/license/fees, I would have bought one instead of my 996. But starting at $25k+tax/title/license/fees, that's low mileage 996/NSX/Viper/C6 territory.

It was always meant to be a tuner car. A 250HP 2.5L would make this thing super easy to get past the 300whp mark
